About
Uncertain Terrain is a multidisciplinary speculative design practice bridging the fields of landscape architecture, urban design, architecture, politics, and ecology. We view landscapes as complex, dynamic socio-ecological systems neither wholly natural nor entirely engineered. Uncertain Terrain is that ambiguous space that surrounds our contemporary consciousness. It is a space of anxiety and a space of wonder. A space of great richness and a space of profound inequity and instability.
These are landscapes that cannot be readily understood using a single method or viewpoint. These are landscapes that arise from layering of history, of narratives, of mechanisms and processes.
